Hmm, not sure who that is.

We have some Emery guys on the 'bus but don't know the names.
One ex-Emery 747 guy left for Focus recently, but not CC initials. (R.B.)
 
Anyone know when the next 747 Class begins? Interviews currently going on?

What is the QOL? Miami is my preference, I do like flying South America so I am an intersted candidate.
 
They just started a class a few days ago.

QOL is great if ya live close to yer base.

MIA should not be a problem as it goes fairly junior.

The negatives are: A company with growing pains.
Lots of night flying
Poor compensation for DH.
Plenty of DH.

On the other hand: Quick upgrades.
2 weeks on, 2 weeks off

Pay and benfits are probably average for this kind of operations.

Well, VAAB, just about all of Part 121 aviation sucks.

If you're going to consider working for a 747 ACMI freight carrier, you need to carefully consider what the job involves and go into it with your eyes open and not get mesmerized by the thought of flying the whale. We're talking about:

1. Long haul operations mean that you're not going to have a 4-on, 3-off schedule. It's likely you're going to be on the road at least 2 weeks at a time. In the case of Tradewinds Miami operation, it's two weeks of sitting reserve since the customer makes up it's freight load daily, sometimes hourly, and uses the size aircraft that makes sense. You're at the mercy of the airplane and customer. If you can't live with that . . . don't apply to an ACMI airline.

2. Even in "scheduled" operations, customers often make many changes. If you think that your printed schedule is going to last past the first day, you're deluding yourself. I consider my printed schedule "advisory." If you can't live with that . . . . don't apply to an AMCI airline.

3. If you can't hack backside-side-of-the-clock flying, don't apply to an ACMI airline.

4. If you're family has a problem with you being away from home for a long time . . . . . don't apply to an ACMI airline.

5. If you're expecting good fringe benefits and a comprehensive legacy-like retirement and pay, dont' apply to an ACMI airline.

But don't come to an ACMI carrier then bitch and complain about things you should have know to begin with.

Is it true that some schedules are a month on month off. A friend told me that but not sure how valid that is. He said something about tradeswind basing you out of ???? Taipei??? or somewhere over there. Not that it was an official base but they "leave" you over there for a month at a time.
Just curious???? Not bad if you ask me.

Yup, it is true that some of the A-300 guys fly a month on a month off and do the China stuff.
They are still based in the US and get travel and hotels / per-diem covered.

Some guys prefer the month on/month off for various reasons.

The 747 guys with a MIA base get 2 weeks on/ 2 off on reserve, and the LAX guys fly a regular schedule that works out to be almost the same, 2/2.

Again, this ain't a bad place to work, but off course not as good as where the freight nazi,s hang out....:rolleyes:

Not sure, it could be 50/50..Not much inside info around here.

Twilight Zone it is..Would patent it if Evergreen did not already have the first right.

Would call it Forth Fumble if the 2 letter code was FF.
