Please provide your thoughts and opinions on what the regionals are really looking for in minimum requirements for total time needed to get hired. Also, how does multi-time play into the equation?

New regional hires what were your times when you got the call for an interview: TT & ME.

Thanks

1000 total time and about 100 multi was the magic number for airlines to notice you when I was looking. Every airline is going to have minimum requirements, but if you know someone to walk in your resume you may get hired with less. Some airlines have 1200/200 or even 1500/500 minns. Here at Great Lakes our minns are 750/50, but I have seen people interview with 500/30 because they had a rec letter. Multi time is key. Get as much multi as you can because everyone knows any idiot can fly a skyhawk.

My advice is to flight instruct your butt off and try to get as much multi as possible. Then take the first job you can get that is going to give you better experience. THat is, of course, any job within reason...stay away from go--jets and mesa or any place like that. Then after you put in your time there will be many more options for you. I got hired at Lakes with 1050TT/120ME with no rec letter.

Good luck

Thanks for the input the ME time is not the issue. Would someone even be considered who has 3-4 times the ME required (300+) but only has minimum TT (500).

I see a lot people post that regionals will hire at 500-600TT but then I also see guys asking where they can find a job at a regional with 800+ time.

I feel like I am getting two different stories :(

Anybody got anyother thoughts.

500 & a pulse'll get you in the door a lot of places I'd bet.

Im thinking more like 1000TT now. There is alot of pilots out of work right now due to Independence Air. Also Mesaba not looking too good. Get your total time up. How did you get all that Multi time anyway? Dads Plane?:smash:

NO DAD"S PLANE HERE!
Key Bank Loan - thats how there is so much ME time - the flight school does most of there training in ME.

I got into great lakes with 600 hrs and 60 multi. There was some guy with 700 total and 500 multi (daddy bought him a lot of right seat time) and for some reason they hired him. Try going there and then when you get the magical 1000-100 go somewhere else. Lakes isn't holding you to the 15 month training contract, at least they weren't

got into colgan with 1580/560. All flight instructing pretty much. Hiring was horrible at the time though.

803 and 101 for Colgan, no hook ups. Been flying the Saab for 4 months. So far so good. Never sat a day of reserve, got a line (still holding it) with Fri, Sat, Sun all off every month right out of IOE. Been at 80+ hours every month, home every night (good cause i'm married), get block or better here for pay, and usually fly with an MEL or two (not as bad as it sounds...). Been flying into LGA every other day in some crazy weather = good experience. People are upgrading in the Saab when they hit 2000 TT right now, we'll see if it holds up. All in all, good times. It's all attitude.

airlineapps

Could airlineapps be anymore frustrating. I think my mind is fried from having to think back 10 years and who a supervisor was or a street address for 3 months in college. WOW!

So what if his dad had a baron? You'd take it too you could have and gained a few months or a year.

I just got on with 700/400 at express jet, but i was flying cargo for a while. just my 2 cents....apply everywhere the worst that can happen is that they don't call you, right?

Sure we would have all taken advantage of it, but we all also see the difference in people who didn't have to work hard to get where they are. Besides, flying your own plane is different than teaching/frieght hauling just like the saying "500 hours in a C-172 is the same hour 500 times". Sort of goes the same for flying your own airplane simply in the pursuit of time building, unless of course you get abitious and make some cool xc's into nasty weather or something.

go to www.aviationinterview.com a lot of good gouges there to read if you sign up and its free if you havent already. Its an awsome site. New hires post their interview experiences on the site along with what their TT were upon getting hired. XJET here I come ( in a few years )
