Ok, last time I checked the lower aircraft had the right of way... here is the situation, what would you do?

AC1 is a 172
AC2 is a 172

AC1 is on long final
AC2 is on downwind and reports AC1 in sight

AC2 is told #2 follow AC1 and cleared to land

AC2 swings around behind AC1

Tower things AC2 is too close

AC2 says he has traffic in sight and is comfortable maintaining visual separation...

Tower tells AC1 to speed up
AC1 says he is already doing 90 knots on a 2 mile final.

Tower tells AC1 to go around, do a right 360 and follow the AC2 behind him...

AC1 says he is #1 and at a lower altitude

Tower claims he "slowed down" (not true) and that it doesnt matter because he is not IFR and squawking 1200... (what difference does that make? so is AC2)

AC1 reluctantly complies....

WHAT THE CRAP IS THIS? SERIOUSLY?

Tower is staffed by humans and can make mistakes too.

Also, I'd imagine there is another side to this story. As told the go around was out of line.

im just sayin... with this logic, just pull up behind anyone you want and the tower will tell them to get out of the way for you.... not that any one should try that, just analyzing the logic.

well, its either have number two go around and over fly you or speed the leader up and get him out of the way. Sometimes things don't have to make any sense to you. We seperate airplanes. Stop crying and just comply.

Sounds like your the one doing most of the crying.

It's quite possible ATC realized that AC2 was less experienced (solo student?) than AC1 and thought to have AC1 (CFI and student?) make room for AC2.

Maybe ATC didn't like AC2 from an earlier transmission. Maybe ATC made a boo boo. It happens.

WOW! A go around in a C-172 !
Chalk it up to experience and be thankful you have a go-around under your belt! You might have been hurtling along at 85 mph, VFR.

Get over it!

Maybe the tower has already heard your joke about "paying for brake wear" during an expedited landing and exiting of the runway???? ;)

You are just a bit nerdy! by the way when someone says "you the man after you say something odd", they're making fun of you

Who the hell would ever say, "You the man after you say something odd"?

Doesn't even make sense.
