I received my ATA application yesterday. I finished filling out the copy I made (including the written paragraphs...whew!) and now my question is to type the final copy or would writing it out be ok? I long ago parted with my typewriter, foolishly thinking I would never need it again. Should I go buy a new one? Find someone who can type it for me tomorrow? Or is it more important and would it carry more weight to return it quickly, albeit neatly printed?

Thanks for the help.

The cynical answer

Hansoma--I apologize for the cynicism but it probably matters *more* who your reference is than if your application is neatly printed or typed.

However, everything being equal, typed is better.

You can go to the library and type it out there. They have really good correction tape but you might want to make a copy of the appication first and practice a little.

Good luck. I hope you get the job.

Hansoma-

I always had this theory that there are things i'm in control of in the application process and things i'm not in control of. The things i'm in control of i'm going to the best job I can. That includes filling out the app.

I always typed mine out. Whenever I received an app. I would make three copies. One as a written rough draft. One to use a check to see if the type fit well in the spaces. And one as an extra.

And of course copy the app you send in as a reference.

I felt confident of my apps and did'nt have to wonder how they were perceived.

Unless you are an expert I'd pay someone to type it for you. There are people who do pilot apps for a living, but anyone who works with a typewriter daily should make short beautiful work of it.

Good luck

I didn't type it, had my wife write it out..better penmanship. Interviewed and got the job.

By the way, great avtar Hansoma
