Those flying the E170, do any of you use the Telex 850? The 170 cockpit is more quiet then the 145's right?

the 850's are fine at higher cruz alts but down low its just too loud IMHO.

The rapidly disapearing senhiser ones that are in the plane are best however as they go/went they are replaced by regular DC's.

I use whatever is in the jet for to/landing and short legs (cleaned with my own supply of whipes) and keep my 850's in my bag to use at cruz on long legs (like PHL-DFW). I swap out for the 850's when we climb above 30,000 then swap back about 100 mile from dest.

I was never a 145 guy - so I can't speak to that, but I have heard the 170 is not as loud. The avro was pretty quiet (we used telex in those - much better than the big ole DC's). The 170 cruizes .10M faster so anything above .72-.73M it is noisier than the avro. If I was a wealthier guy - I would spring for a telex but - oh well.

ive only jumpseated in the 170 but the 145 is essentially a longer Brasilia fuselage with a swept wing. the windshield is exactly the same. It is EXTREMELY loud in the Flight Level's simply because of wind noise. While were on the subject has anyone tried or purchased one of those Mach 1 headsets from Lightspeed. They look kinda like earbuds to an ipod and have a little mike boom attached with an ANR system. I normally wouldnt use anything like this in the 145 but ive heard some good things so im pondering a pair for myself.....any info would be appreciated...

if you are gonna invest in headsets, might as well make it bose. probably a bit of an overkill. but might as well go all out. and its heaven on your ears.

Lightspeeds's are a peice of ********************. Mine lasted for 3 legs and then broke. Also the ear plugs they use suck. I went with the Clarity Aloft and they work really well and are constructed a lot better.
Hell, I guess you can try the lightspeeds if you like they have a 30 day money back guarantee. I think it cost me about 20 bucks round trip for the shipping and got to try them out.

Enjoy your furlough jet...all you'll be able to afford is the house mouse ears.

I am. Thanks. I'm sure the origional poster appreciates your insight. Now make sure you get the cargo loaded onto my furlough jet on time so I don't have to go through the additional work of typing out a departure delay.

I use Telex 750's. I have to turn the volume up a bit down low but I can hear fine. $80 for mine on Ebay.

You can also use the five pin "Airbus" headsets in the 170.

thanks for your post. I currently use the 750, but the ear cushion just doesn't have enough cushion for me. The 850 has nice leather cushion, but i wonder if i can replace the 750 with the 850 ear cushion replacement??? thought of getting a sennhieser...

Hey Corbon, I used to be a IAM ramper and I bootstrapped my way into this business only to find out the profession was being hijacked by Sh1t contractors the likes of your current employer who pay little better and threaten the very existence of mine. You are a cancer to all of us...you will be dealt with.

what is your problem dude? i just asked a few questions about some headsets to current 170 pilots. is that so wrong? why u gotta bring hostility and start sh!t! get a life you moron...

I've never seen anyone with these before on the 750, but I use the same company on my DCs. Something you might consider.

Subin...I apologize...Just frustrated and need to get laid bad...thats why I deleted my post...I'm sick of being so negative...I think I'm gonna take a hiatus from this board for a while...maybe permanently...I fear for our futures.

Knob...yes I did some brief turbine training in a BE90 at TAB before the airline wonder scheme and I never rented a seat in a 1900 but fire away...sink to my level...I deserve it.
