I am hearing a lot of rummor about some unpleasant things in the works! From reading some of the posts here, I think some of you all are a bit nervous also! I just thaught I would encourage you ASA guys who are interested, to get your applications for Delta done! In a short time the hiring will be in full swing and we are excited about getting ASA pilots. Not stiring a pot, or starting a negative post, but from experience (2 1/2 years on furlough) I would have loved to have had Plan B well in place! Good luck to you guys!

Spill, what are you hearing? As far as Delta applications, thank you for the encouragement. I am sure most have our stuff in. But, Delta is to hire around 200 pilots, that leaves 1,600....

I just interviewed, passed the first day, and now I'm waiting on the Psyche Eval results. Hopefully the shrink thought I was sane.

The Captains that interviewed me confirmed the orders that are posted on Airline Pilot Central. I will say they did seem biased toward the ASA guys. Of the 8 that interviewed, 4 made it. The only 2 ASA pilots and 2 Air Force.

I guess hiring is slowing down for the recalls coming back! I have heard that we may go over the 200 New Hires this year, and 400 or more next year! On the last AE ATL 767ER went as junior as people coming back from recall. ATL 767 is about the same! Keep updating and I hope you will get the call if you want it! I know a ton of DCI pilots are very negative about Delta so if you are not interested, good luck with the airline of your choice.

Thanks for your concern acarpe, but there are about 1700 ASA pilots. Delta is going to hire about 200 pilots this year. I agree with you that things don't look good for ASA now. We are about to become the next CMR/ACA/AirWisc/ALG/Mesaba due to the failures of ALPA. I can't afford to spend the next 10 years getting back to even. I will ride this horse into the ground and once I determine that is where it is headed, I will do my best to harm Delta and ALPA - the two parties who conspired to create this portfolio. Good goes around and so does BAD.......

Joe - come on my friend - being vindictive against DAL will not do anything to help you, or the horse you ride on. The fact is that DAL has the gold and makes the rules. ALPA, while flawed, is the best around (beats Teamsters or the SkyWest Student Counsel). Seems like the best thing to do is to support the folks who are trying to help.

Everyone else - ASA posted a pay while you train to get dispatchers requiring a THREE YEAR committment and in the transition FAQ's specifically say there will be no changes to ASA's flying.

Yes it would be nice to go to Delta. It would also be nice to continue delivering Delta's passengers to their mainline equipment while enjoying our jobs at ASA. Hopefully both are options.

True - if you look at the long term facts, Delta has done the best it could by its employees (with a few wild exceptions). Overall, much better than United, or US Air. But in the short term being in the DCI portfolio seems like being in a knife fight and career uncertainty is horrible, whether it is mainline furloughs, or getting punched out of the lower levels of the industry. I think there will be sufficient opportunity for all, but we need to work together to get away from our jobs coming at your expense and vice versa.

Fins, you are much more diplomatic than I. I don't see ALPA as being better than the CHQ Teamsters or the "Skywest Student Counsel". They are getting the jobs while the ALPA represented ASA and CMR pilots lose the "Portfolio" Wheel of Fortune.... In the end, it is all about the jobs, and they are going to CHQ and SKYWEST. I'm not being vindictive, but rather stating my true feelings - not something that you see from "politicians". I am not going to start over again at a 121 ALPA passenger carrier for 25K - forget it! I'm not going to go to Delta and spend the next 8 years getting back to even - forget it!

My plan B involves getting on a boat... not hoping to start over again at the same game we are currently losing.......

You miserable little POS! I've never whished or wanted anything bad to happen to ANYONE in aviation John, but you, I can't wait until you're on the street.:angryfire Don't worry Johnny Boy, your name is FAMOUS around the DL campus. Keep riding the ASA train, because its all you got you pathetic loser! Keep blaming ALPA for your failed miserable career!
And BTW, I wouldn't go spending all your lawsuit money right away sport! There could be a counter suit by ALPA to your rjdc jerkoffs coming right back at ya. Looks like you & LJ will have to find a new love nest!;)

Hopefully it's a one way ticket to no where!

Don't the Delta pilots have anything better to do than worry about a few ASA or Comair pilots. Get some lives.

Sounds to me like you know you can't ever go to Delta and therefore you jeolously badmouth the airline as you watch your ASA comrades get hired over there. Grow up J.B.

180, I have never wanted to go to Delta and have never applied. I know it is hard for some of you to believe, but not everyone dreams of the double breasted coat and the ability to ask for "wind checks". I have never applied, and I will never apply. It would take me about 8 years just to get back to even and I'm not willing to do that. I'm glad for those who want to go, and some great people have gone there. However not everyone wants to be a Delta pilot, and the fact is, most ASA pilots won't be Delta pilots because of the shear numbers involved. There are about 1700 ASA pilots.

Joe, good for you if you're happy at ASA but to say you will do everything you can to harm ALPA and Delta was childish and immature. I haven't applied there either and I am quite content at AirTran (and I worked at ASA for several years btw), but I don't have any negative feelings towards Delta.
