NEW YORK, Feb 13 (Reuters) - US Airways Group Inc. (LCC.N: Quote, Profile , Research) said on Tuesday that its largest shareholder, PAR Investment Partners, sold 6.5 million shares of its 13.5 million-share stake, the company said in a statement.
The sale was part of PAR's portfolio diversification strategy, PAR President Paul Reeder said in the statement.
PAR Capital Management Vice President Edward Shapiro will retain his seat on the US Airways' Board of Directors, according to the statement.

Time to diversify---as they said.......hmmmm.

Bye Bye--General Lee

I sure hope so. If the stock will be so kind as to move from yesterday's $59.17 to the low $50's (as it should as part of the normal cycle), I'll have doubled my investment in three $60 puts on LCC I bought last week for $990.

General,
Are you a chick or are you just acting like one? US Air lost in their attempt to buy you guys. It's over, congrats!

I kind of thought the same thing, but then after I thought about it a minute, the General and other Delta guys took an awful lot of potshots from some of our number nuts at US, so I suppose its all fair.

they sold half their stake...

My take on this is that when they saw that their chance for more quick stock price raises due to merger speculation had cooled, I guess they "saw" the need for diversification.

Nothing more...btw General, most of my fellow pilots really wanted nothing to do with that merger either.

I think he sounds happy to be done with Parker. A lot of the USair guys were railing him, and he is giving it back it looks like. Good for him. Good goes around.

I just got out of my 3 Puts on LCC for $1800 which gives me an 82% profit since when I bought them at $990 on the 8-12th of this month. Still think there is room for LLC to go down a buck or two but wanted to take my profits as they were.
