I am in Portland, OR Can & Will Travel I was thinking of sheblee in nevada.
 
There's gotta be some good folks in and around PDX. My guess is that you could get it done just as quickly and effectively if you went to an FBO vs. going to an "academy." I think the biggest two factors that determine the quality of training are 1) the instructor's skill level, and 2) the motivation level of the student. And there are good instructors everywhere. You just have to look.

VFR mins 500 TT.
 
ATP or Sheble Aviation will get you done with it all in a short amount of time and for a good price.
