Hello boys and girls
Just got a call from LS to set up for fingerprints.
Not official but Jan03 was mentioned.
:p

Presumably you're the same JPB that is 70 on the pool list. Either there are 2 big classes in January, 3 classes in Jan, or our pool list does not mirror reality as much as we thought. Pretty much whatever though, if #70 starts in Jan, that is great news.

Firstthird, #135

Lila (sp?) called me today for fingerprints, too. I'm #80 on the list. I don't think anything will happen real quick. I was originally guessing late summer to winter of 03, but I'll be sure to ask LL for an update when I go in tomorrow to get printed. If I find out anything interesting I'll post it.

I got the call today also. I am #81 on the unofficial list Heading to MDW tommorow to have it done. I will drop a note if I here anything else.

more news..

LL called me today..returning my monthly call. Told me to get my fingerprints, too...currently # 85 on our "unofficial" list. She said I'm about 8 classes away...hmmm, this seems like more classes than I expected...

Also, she told me I could be in a first quarter '03 class, but if not, than second quarter for sure.

I must say, getting this call really made my day!

I'm guessing that makes my #83 post fingerprinting standing pretty good for a potential late Spring party @ LUV... My fingers are crossed for all of us!

"Steady Hiring!"

I talked to LL for my monthly chat just a few minutes ago. The news was good! LL reported "steady hiring" would resume in Jan. I am # 104 on our most current list and LL said I would be in the 9th class (with classes of 20). Daring math in public, I would say that puts me on their list between #161 and #180. She said I should make it down there in the first half of the year.

I live in Phoenix, so I volunteered and got fingerprinted a couple months ago (with LL's approval) at the PD near Sky Harbor.

Hmmmmmmm

Well gang, do we dare break out our chips and put some money on the "Pass Line?"

Glad to hear some decent news these days. Wouldn't some class assignment just make the holidays a bit merrier for some of us? I think it'd be a nice touch!!!:D

Okay Okay...

I don't know about you folks but I got my hopes up again. I feel good about these upcoming class rumors. I will be drinking beer with you fine folks in Dallas very very soon.

Everyone in the pool hang in there. We are about to fly for the best airline in the world...Anyone up for another round of kool-aid.

Broken Heart?

Did my fingerprints in MDW yesterday. Flew LUV: RDU-MDW-RDU. What a great feeling to be doing something for this upcoming adventure. It was great to be among the SWA folks.

Of course I told EVERYONE I met what I was doing. Lots of smiles and handshakes - welcome aboard, etc.

Spoke with LL yesterday afternoon. LL said she expects hiring to resume with "several" classes. Reaffirmed I'm about 6 classes out "worst case" - depending on class size. By that she said she was assuming 20 per class. If they have more per - I'd move up. BTW - I'm 76 on our list.

So, I'm no longer cautiously optimistic - I'm now full blown lookin forward to a class in 1st QTR!

But what happens if it doesn't come to pass? Last spring when SWA put the brakes on hiring it was like be jilted by a lover. Now I'll lettingt myself get set up again?

Oh well - I guess I'm do for some positive vibes 'bout now. Bring it on!

Yeah what you said...

Inhot,

No doubt Swa employees are the coolest peeps around. I have had numerous occasions where they have all bent over backwards till they couldn't bend any more to help me out in some way or another. I cant wait to join the family and be part of the Swa team. Swa to me is a true American icon and it shows in the way they treat their employees and the way the employees treat others. GO SWA

Qxeplt,

That has got to be the most eye catching, not quite annoying (but close) avatar I have seen in some time.

What!!! You haven't heard???

Slug,

You haven't heard? It's the new SWA tail logo being released in 2003. Not only will I get a pilot salary and stock options but just think of the royalties for this one.

Im just joshin' ya bud. I know its border line annoying. That's why I picked it. I try to be normal but it's hard sometimes...

Please don't SLUG me.

Anyone happen to have LL's #?
Want to see about volunteering for fingerprinting
Thanks!

Fingerprinter here I come!!!!!!!!!!!

Just got the call from Lila this morning. Talk about putting a little skip in your step. She said I needed to make my way to MDW for fingerprints. Shae also said that nothing is offical but that an announcement should be made soon and that they were asking for 2 classes a month for six months. We should know for sure by Dec.1 at the latest.

I don't know about you all but I am having dreams of LUV.

On our unofficial pool I am #92.

See you all soon. Since everyone else is buying the first round I will get the 10th round because I think we will be in the bar a while.

Didn't have to volunteer, got the call this AM
Was told 5th class, depends on class size, which is TBD
#64 on the list

happy dance!

I'm Surprised!

Got the call today to get my fingers inked. Surprised since I'm #228 on the unofficial list. I know it will still be a long while but it's encouraging they are looking so far into the future!

Best of luck to all!

Firstthird,

I meant Jan03 was mentioned for training in general; not mine.:(
Like you said i m #70 and expecting 5 to 6 classes down from Jan.

WOW!
Number 228 is definitely great news! I am 150 but haven't heard of anyone past 80 or 82 getting a call. Any rhyme or reason to these calls? After hearing that #228 got a call I'm starting to get excited - crossing my fingers #150 will make it soon.

Les

I'm #151 and also the guy on the other thread about the 1 year mobilization thing. Talked to LL about everything and she told me to go ahead and get my prints done even though she didn't think I'd start in the 1st half of the year.

Good Luck All,

Phone Call

Hi All,

LL called the house while I was at the commissary picking up grub for the family. The message was about setting up a time to get my fingerprints taken. I just happen to have a comp day this Wednesday and I'll be on the road to DAL for the 2-1/2 hour trip. I'm #62 on our list and was told I'm five classes away, based on 20 newhires per class. Take care.

Congrats to all who have black ink on their fingers.

Has anyone heard any RUMINT on when interviews might start up again? I turned in my app at the DAL AirInc seminar in Jan and spent my dime on the type in Apr. LL told me that should put me in the "first month or two" of interviewing when they started up again.

BTW, Did anyone use an interview prep? I know there are a couple of SW CPTs who have pretty good success (Rob Beeks is one of them). Any recommendations? A couple of extra buck is a drop in the bucket after the type. And did you deduct it on taxes?

I believe anything you hear about interviewing starting up soon would be purely "RUMOR". I did use the inteview prep from Rob Beeks. [email protected] (COM??) His prep and aids to fill out the applications was well worth the money. I did deduct my type rating and the interview prep from my taxes.
