We went to see the thunderbirds at hillsbouro yesterday and they didn't fly from there. would thy have come from pdx because of security or some other reason ? I don't know if they came from pdx or some where else.

typically USAF fighters require a min of 7K' and arresting cables. Can be waived but w/ a suitable field nearby it most likely won't be.
 
They fly out of CLE for the BKL airshow because of the birds at lakefront. They lost two airframes (and pilots) over the years flying out of BKL.
 
I believe one of the Blues actually hit a bird last year at the BKL show on takeoff.
