I posted a thread in the regional forum too, but was curious if anyone knows the formula to change the thurst output of a jet engine to the horesepower equivalency. i.e. 1000lbs thrust = 2000 horsepower or whatever the case is. I thought there would probably be a formula out there somewhere, but not sure what it is. Thanks for all the help.
 
Hp and Thrust

Pa=TaV/325

Pa= propulsive power available, H.P.
Ta = Thrust available, lbs.
V = flight velocity, Kts

Each pound of thrust at 325 kts is equal to 1 hp; However, as you can see the faster you go the more hp per unit thrust (assuming consant alt and rpm).
