Sort of like the three degrees of Kevin Bacon, but it occured to me, that most of the worlds airlines are somehow in alliance with others. Case in point would be AA and Lufthansa: AA is oneworld, whereas LH is Star but they are essentially joined, since LH has bought Swiss. Then there is Air France and NWA, since they are joined by KLM, which brings in DAL and by way of NWA, CAL and KLM are togther.

Air France and AA? Air France codeshares with Finnair which is a Oneworld partner with AA as a member!

So the question is, can most of the worlds airlines be connected?
