In a way I feel sorry for the Air Force guys...

I mean when you live on a cushy AFB, (making the O'Club by 1700) that congress pumps money into like social security it is kinda hard to get the perspective.....

Living on a boat for 6+ months.... you even learn to like the guys you don't like. Your environement forces you to lighten up. Understand what matters.....sometimes you just got to let it all out and have fun....

Then there is always that AF tailhook envy..... (ouch, did that hurt? :D )

FLY NAVY!

no, no, no...I've said it before...you are mixing up the aviators and the submariners. Subs - 100 men go down, 50 couple come up!

Right on sandman! <g> Couldn't imagine being squeezed into that teeny little boat with 5000 other GUYS. Me thinks it's way too much "weenie-rubbing"!

Darn right! ... cause we're home every night to reinforce their training! <g> Meanwhile ... you guys "bond" up a storm for those long, lonely 6-9 month whack-fests! <vbg>

Rez,

I am thinkful for the Navy. The old-days of TAILHOOK were tons of fun and God knows the Navy makes better movies than the USAF (Iron Eagle is beyond embarrasssing). Navy boys make a "slot time" better than anybody...they absolutely nail their required landing times. Such good RED AIR at RED FLAG...nothing like gunning Goose and Maverick. Plus, we need somebody for the Marines (moment of silence....) to "play with" enroute to the war but when it comes to airpower

...dial 1-800-AIRFORCE.

Clubs have had to be self-sustaining since the early 90's. They used to be good, but most have died or combined with the enilisted clubs.

Pat...but one billion dollar boat is OK ? Then you sail these billion dollar boats around the world, spending billions to project "fleet defense", use 80% of your assets guarding the Queen Bee...dumping more tons of garbage in the ocean than bombs on bad guys. Where do I sign up?

OBTW - I am NOT a member of the F & A 22 fan club ... in case that is what you referred to...

Forgot to factor in inflation spanky ... those dingies now fetch $4.5 BILLION not including the jets.

Boats

Mates,

Our friend above, listing the Nimitz (CVN68) class bird farms seems to have forgotten:

USS Kitty Hawk (CV 63) Yokouska, Japan
USS Enterprise (CVN 65) Norfolk, VA
USS John F. Kennedy (CV 67) Mayport, FL

Maybe not as pricey as a Nimitz, but still quite spendy !! Then there's the new CVXX project ... sheesh ...

Cheers,

SPANK I am not going to tell ya again.

I don't want any Girl Scout Cookies.

Was there not a USS America a while back? I was thinking that it was a Nimitz also. Maybe it was an older class though.

Of course, my career has been spent flying airplanes off of concrete and fishing out of boats!! That whole using a perfectly good fishing boat to land airplanes on always mystified me!! :)

I believe the America was a Kitty Hawk class CV.

DUDES...you are sooo out of date! Thanks to Clinton, we've had chickies on board since 1995. ...Go airwing early!

My wife moved on to better things. It was nice getting 2 E-5 paychecks with BAH attached to both.

For all the problems they cause it's nice having females aboard at times:)
