...am i the only one who cant see the problem???
Nope.

(Not that I like the time requirements being so high, which will leave me in the right-hand seat for a looooong time, just that I know a lot of 5000-hour King Air 'Silver-backs'. :D )

2000 TT is not a lot for a King Air PIC single pilot.

The 100 PIC in type is so that you are not high mins.

We used to reguire 2500 for a 200 PIC.

Those times are not unreasonable. Sure there are guys flying RJ's with less than 1000 hrs. But they are doing it in the left seat with a Captain that knows what is going on. This job is single pilot so there is nobody there to back you up. I would not put my million dollar King Air or my business on the line with a 1000 hr pilot.

Plus it is in mountainous terrain, single pilot, often into uncontrolled airports with non-precision approaches, in the middle of the night at times.

Its a lot different than two pilot airline cockpits, where you have ILS approaches and ATC facilities most everywhere you go, high level of cockpit automation, dispatchers, and most of the decisions are out of your hands.

Sure, there are 300 hour copilots flying big iron in some places around the world, but I wouldnt want them flying single pilot air ambulance at all. My 300 hour cheyenne wxmod copilots from last year are flying Boeings and Airbuses now, and they werent able to fly and talk on the radio at the same time, or even think while flying for that matter.

I think you guys are missing my point. 4000 hrs total is not unexceptable for this job. The total of 3000 total with the break down of other requirements is the unrealistic part. The person would have had to of started a PIC multi job at 1000 tot. and a PIC turbine multi job at 2000 total. I was just pointing out that it seemed a little unrealistic,..... that's all.

I dont understand what the problem is. Its not the number of seats in the plane that drives the time requiremnts. It the insurance company in this instance.

Kings Airs are single pilot and if its in the mountains, single pilot IFR and Air amblulance, Thats gunna be some hard flying at all hours of the days and nights.

King air in general are harder to fly than Jets.

But the funny part is that the number of seats in the aircraft relates directly to how much the insurance company needs to charge to insure the aircraft. And then there's a fine balance to how qualified you need your pilots to keep the insurance premium in check. Number of seats = liability.
