Imagine how much an airline would save on training alone.
Furthermore, think how much they would save in medical/retirement payments when you retire at 65 and die at 66. Hell of a retirement, eh?
 
If the airlines wanted this rule changed, it would have been changed by now. Heck, they're the ones that wanted it in the first place. Reducing the number of pilots at the top of scale (with whatever mechanism they choose) lowers total compensation costs. The Defenders of Discrimination and the airline managments are in bed together on this issue, whether they admit it or not.

Getting the right thing done, especially when so many are only looking out for their own self-interest is never easy. But justice will in the end, as it always has, prevail.
