With LCC's spreading across the US, where do they go next? Since the masses want cheap airfares and satellite TV rather than luxury and reheated meals, is the next LCC niche to be Trans-Atlantic?

JetBlue with its Kennedy hub?
AirTran with its Hartsfield hub?
Independence Air with its Dulles hub?

Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?

People Express tried that with $99 fares to Brussels from EWR. It costs a lot to set up markets and buy stuff for the airports (tugs, gates, counters, train people) and unless they get codeshares---they will have to go it alone over there. Can you think of some major INTL airlines that do not codeshare with one of the Majors? I can't see it happening---or Southwest would have done it already. But, I think Neeleman should give it a try----invest huge---now!!!!

Bye Bye--General Lee;)

Well, as for AirTran, I think you'll see us in Paris, Texas long before you'll see us in Paris, France.

Seriously, Mexico, Canada and the Caribbean are about as "foreign" as you'll probably see us get (although we used to go to Havana once a week).

Ummm yeah, with Spirit MD-80s and Frontier A319s......I can't see it happening.....sorry---Southwest---the most profitable by far---would have done it already...Ty is correct.

Bye Bye--General Lee:rolleyes:

Heres a good question for the General. Dont mean to sound stupid, but, What does LCC stand for? I must be out of the loop... Thanks

Not to highjack the thread - but is the F9 service to ANC going to be seasonal or year round? Whats the range on those A319's? Can they make that trip non-stop even with opposing winds?

Seasonal

I have heard that Frontier will be summer only.

On the other note, a UAL pilot once told me that their 319 needed max power, bleeds off, improved climb to get out of DEN full, and they flew to ANC with no alt to make the flight plan fuel burn work. That is the limit of my French airplane knowledge...

Frontier has 5 mexico destinations, just added Anchorage, and
Spirit does Puerto Rico and soon Mexico.....
It's just a matter of time....IMOH

Last time I checked Anchorage was in the United States. You know, it's located right next to Hawaii, in the Pacific Ocean (reference most classroom maps). Just had to bust ball$!

AK737FO - LOL!

Boeing all the way! But does anybody know the range of the 319? I'd guess they would have to divert for fuel if the had head winds - like Juneau mabye?

Absolutely not true. The A320 was typically used on that route. The 320 was FAR superior to the 737-300 when it came to operations out of DEN. In any case, DEN-ANC is not a problem for the 320, much less the 319. The only restriction was TO at MTOG in ANC (lots o' fish...). The loads out of ANC typically drop big time around Sept 15th as the cruise season comes to a close.

OK - thanks for the heads up. I know UAL takes up 320's all the time. A friend of mine was on one from DEN and they had to drop in JNU for fuel - and they were delayed getting out because of not haveing the published SIDS or something like that?
