Hi!

They are working on shoe scanners. You would walk over a scanner built into the floor, and wouldn't have to remove your footwear.

I'd be happier if we got ID's that were at least as "secure" as those of the rampers. Then we wouldn't have to worry about stripping naked, for no reason, before taking over an airplane.

I left AEX yesterday afternoon to come back to DFW to work, and the TSA screeners made me take my shoes off due to the new rules in effect. I use this airport frequently and have never had to take my shoes off in the past after I tell the screeners that they don't set the metal detector off. Oh well....guess I'll be wearing my uniform from now on when I go back and forth to AEX. Hopefully that will help.

Do you guys think something is up? It seemed recently there was news about the TSA relaxing some of the rules and even some talk about re-privatizing alot of the TSA...now all the sudden they seem to be tight on screening again.

The fact that they found a guy with bullets sewn into his clothing makes me feel as if they are definitely scrutinizing a little tighter than before...I wonder if something has come up the "intel" pipeline?

well i went to work today, and had no problems with the shoes and wearing them through. i then asked the TSA agent politely on the other side since there was noone behind me and it was a light day about this new rule and if it pertains to shoes and what not. she clarified for me that the outer most layer/jacket must be removed. the shoes can stay on if theyre a low deck height shoe but if theyre a high shoe such as something with heels or thick soled shoes such as doc martens or some of those elevated shoes kids wear, then they must come off and get x-rayed.

if youre getting told to remove your thin soled airport friendly bostonians or deerstags cuase of this new rule....id ask a supervisor where that interpretation is found in writing and then request that all people working for him understand what it means.

dont forget tho that these people have the power to take your certificate away if they have problems with you. right?

besides if they require only the one layer of clothing to be worn through the detector....then ill just hvae to take my pants off and walk through in underwear....trust me you dont want that.
