Well, here goes my first post. Please be gentle, It's my first time, LOL.

Anyhoo, I isa wonderin how potant da for yera degree is ta gettin hyed

If you have extensive heavy jet/EFIS, yada yada yada time, will that mean more than a four year degree with UPS and FEDEX I am speaking of. Says they both prefer it but not required. In the question and answer section on the FedEX site is asks that very question but is anyone getting interviewed or hired without it? Does knowing someone on the inside help in this case as well? I can't seem to get a straight answer.

Danka all yous bery much.

Well, I think that is absolutely RIDICULOUS!! Having a four year degreee has NOTHING to do with flying an airplane!!
.
.
There, the pot is offically stirred!!

.
Now guys, what about that Age 65 rule???

cut and paste...

right from the link posted above...

College Degree from an accredited college or university

nothing deleted nothing added.
So actaully it says nothing about a 4yr degree.

Way to go...Stir that pot! You are 100% correct!

I have a masters and my vision went from 20/10 to 20/100 in a two year period. So the Degree didn't do jack squat for me.

Are you kidding me Keith?!

Try reading the QRH sometime, fully rested, on a good day...thats why a 4 yr degree is required at FDX:confused: Some of those procedures are clear as mud:rolleyes:

Study and get the degree. It is great that to learn something outside of aviation and it is something that no one can ever take away from you. "The only thing that is more expensive than paying for an education is not having one."

I get such a big LAUGH when I hear the "college educated" NBA thugs express their views during an interview. NFL as well.

Edit: HAHAHAHAHAHA! What a f-ckn' joke!

Edit #2: PWI, as somone on this board said!

So what if you have a 4 year degree, which I managed to get in 6 years, changed majors 150 times, 2 fraternaties, kicked out of both, dated 16 chicks for longer than 2 months each, graduated in the top 10 of the bottom 20 in my class, got a job, hated it, decided to fly for a living, loved it, 4 handicap, great wife, great dog,.

Yeah, college really did me a lot of good. But I still spent the money, sacrificed my time, learned alot of BS about whatever propaganda the bleeding heart professor thought was important, and wasted 6 years of my life when I could have been doing something else. It's just one of the hoops you have to jump through to get an interview.

Just today I received this spam for a degree mill that hands out sheepskins in exchange for credits in "life experience." Peachy.

Airlines (as well as most employers) know whether or not a degree is legitimate. I would think it would be a complete waste of money (at least it should be) for someone to purchase a degree from one of these "degree mills".

Given the choice, I would recommend getting a degree. The next question is why you don’t have one. This will tell more about you than anything else. What were you doing from age 18 to 22?

I didn’t go to College, but I was married and raising my daughter who is now 22 and a college senior. I also was working towards a management position and at age 25 I was very successful and making six figures.

I started flying around this time and continued until I had my commercial MEL instrument. Five years ago at age 37 with about 1000tt I applied for my first flying job. I was never questioned about my education. This was for an aircraft management company flying 91/135. After 5 years here I applied at B6 and was hired. Again the degree was not an issue. I was asked about it on the interview but I guess they liked my answer.

I’m sure that if I had bummed around for 4 or 5 years after high school, I wouldn’t have been hired.

I don’t know your age or background but if you are just trying to save money and time, that’s a bad idea. If you have a legitimate story, you could get a shot.

You also may need to open your options, FedEx and UPS may require the paper

Good luck!!
