The Boss wants a PC12

hey, been on the high seas, back now so i'll address some of the questions/issues: a 200 at $1.1? where?? of course i'd much prefer that, twin screw and all but i don't hold the checkbook. also, the boss is a pilot, but at 76 years old insurance gets complicated, even for a pc-12. We've got the new adam a-500 and an a-700(twin jet) on order but the factory can't keep the 500 flying(a discussion for another thread) so the boss is getting frustrated and rethinking the plan. the company has prsviously operated a skymaster, centurion, and silver eagle(turbine centurion). even slicing a little off each side dollar wise a king air seems much preferred to the platypus, just how do i convince the boss?

Well, for every dollar you put into a PC-12, you will get a very high percentage back. Depending on the price of oil and the phase of the moon, that may not hold true in a King Air. Insurance for a pilot without plenty of turbine multi (nevermind the centerline thrust issue) would be near impossible. My old boss sold his King Air 200 to get a PC-12. Insurance was the main concern, not to mention the rediculous MX bills.

Are you saying that a PC-12 insurance is cheaper? Does this aircraft lend itself to a lower time pilot?

YOU should get the specs on all these planes, and choose which one is right for your operation!!!! They're all good planes, but some do more than the other.

If you were looking at PC-12/BE200 because you had a lot of stuff to haul, plan on leaving 80% of it behind, with a TBM or Meridian.
 
A variety of missions: mostly the western five states, been as far away as Alaska and Argentina, he just opened an office in Vermont, yeah, I'm definately all over the place! And that 80% costs a $Milloin or more. Mostly just the two of us but sometimes the whole damn family or company. I'm thinking it'll boil down to dollar per pound useful/mile/KIAS. Having trouble finding that site that compares performance on types all on one neat page, any word on that?
 
Luke, check out http://www.conklindd.com/ and have them run a comparative analysis for you on all the aircraft you are considering. It'll be the best couple of hundred bucks you've spent.

Or you can order the software for a grand or so, and compare every make and model imaginable all lined up next to each other.
