With upgrade times that are long and the prospects of getting to a major anytime soon the number of interested applicants will dwindle.

The answer? give the FO's massive pay raises. Everyone knows you can not sustain yourself on FO salaries for long. as soon as the upgrade takes a long time, FO's start droppin or not applying.

the answer to the regional staffing problem is improve the QOL of the friggin FO!

According to Mesaba management FO's are the problem. With so many 6-7 year FO's we are too senior. They want to make it so bad everyone leaves so they can replace everyone with first year guys. Never having an FO hit 2nd year pay would be their biggest fantasy.
