At the moment the Hackensack Med Ctr is reporting that 12 people were brought to their hospital, three are being admitted. The co-pilot in critical condition with an injury to a lower extremity, and two people from a car that was struck as the aircraft crossed Route 46, one of them in critical condition with a head injury. The other nine are being treated for minor injuries and released. It would seem that there were 3 crew and four pax.

Our thoughts and prayers.
 
I haven't seen the pictures yet but I received a call from a friend this morning around 7:40, but I wasn't close to being awake at that point. But I did turn on my transceiver to see if I could find out what was going on and heard tower tell a copter that the airport wouldn't be open before noon. I live in Hackensack about two miles from the airport and typically take the more scenic route past there on the way home. Glad to hear that they at least missed hitting the localizer head-on, that the building was empty, and that it appears to be more injuries than anything else.

Looks like it was taking off from runway six. The thrust reversers appear to be deployed. Appears to have clipped one or two of the westernmost localizer antennas.

Sounds like one person in critical condition. Everyone else to be treated and released. Hospital brief on Fox news at 10:15am 2/2/05
 
This is from an eyewitness on the ABC site:

"Two guys came off with their hand cuts," Sosa said. "The pilot said he dragged himself out. He literally crawled out like a baby, and all the other people just walked out normal. He said as they tried to airborne before five minutes past (7 a.m.), they just lost control and they couldn't airborne the plane. They went straight through, 100 miles per hour," Sosa said.

The media should grab this guy and hire him as an aviation consultant! It sounds like he knows what he's talking about.
 
Frost??

One of our Hawkers is stuck in TEB right now. The crew told me that they had a think nasty frost on their plane this morning just after the Crash. Hopefully those guys deiced if they needed to.
 
Halt all speculation! CNN has it covered.....

According to some dude on CNN, the accident may have been caused by "Pilot Failure". :confused: :rolleyes:

Well thank god that's cleared up. Might as well just send the NTSB home at this point.

I sure hope my girlfriend Daren didn't say that, or IT's OVER! well...maybe I'll forgive her....
 
Lets get one thing straight about this.

We should all say a prayer to the aviation gods that this was not caused by frost on the wing, can you say media frenzy???????
 
TEB and Frost

I was there this AM and took off just before this happened. It is true that there was frost. Our jet had some after being outside all night. It wasn't bad at all. Just a small patch on the wing tips. Rubbed off with a glove.
 
CNN just said that this flight was a charter operated by Air Castle. If the media is correct, I believe that this is the same company who operated the Challenger that crashed in Montrose......

Looks like no fatalities. Let's hope it stays that way.

There are reports the pilot exited the aircraft and said words to the effect of,
"We lost control of the aircraft."

Now we all know what's going to happen... that will BECOME truth. Note:
I didn't say "FACT," I said "truth." Sheer repitition will make this some sort
of focal point on the incident. In other words, the pilots will take the
major share of the blame even before all the facts are in.

not bad at all on a GLEX wing can be deadly on a CL600 wing...
 
Frost

I have seen after a long cold soaking flight while getting ready to go back out frost form quickly and suddenly on the wings of our Learjet.

Don't know if this is the cause but lets all be careful. Yes, I have gotten out at the runup area and hand checked the wings.

Just my thoughts!
