Recent news reports are touting the discovery of various written documents authored by Al-Queda leaders. The documents purport that they are planning on attacks here this summer. The targets are said to be other mass transit entities beyond the airlines. Specifically, bus and rail transportation.
Although I personally don’t rely on those methods of transportation, it gives me pause to think on how this new ‘threat’ might affect this country. I see the constant promotion for the of using buses and trains to alleviate traffic congestion and to help the environment out from various greenhouse gasses. I would speculate, that this latest revelation by the Department of Homeland Security, is not going to do much to instill confidence in the traveling public, to use public transportation. Now it’s not just the muggers, sick drunks, and inconvenience one must endure in these public conveyances, but the fear a Madrid type situation on a subway, elevated train, or Am-Track. I’ll stick with my private, personally owned cars to go from point A to point B.
