Hey Guys, I need some assistance in my career decision making. I currently work for a freight company, which is obvious from my name, anyways. I am fairly low time, under 2000 hrs. I have a friend who works for a jet management company and they are looking for a new co pilot in a small biz jet, which they will be getting rid of soon for a larger one. The pay and benefits are competive but since they are only a few years old I worry about leaving my current company, which is very stable.

But, this is my ultimate goal right now, flying corporate. I am worried for the reason of my low flight time, and stability. I have talked to countless friends in different parts of the industry and get many different perspectives.

I really need some advice, thanks all

either way I would take the new bizjet job, its a start in the right direction...you have to make the jump sooner or later..using the ole "its stable" thing in this business is crazy...

but beware of the "its being traded on a bigger one" line.....its all bull$hit until its on the ramp and you are through school...

go fo rit and good luck.
sleeping at night is much better for your career anyways!!

From what you've said so far I would definitely take the jet job. It's a step up from what you're doing and who knows ... it could turn out to be the job you've always wanted....

.

I'd say it depends on this jet management company on who they are. Looking at Amsat on a daily bases, its amazing to see how many new corporate jets are for sale, there is some great deals around. For me it would depend on the JMC, if there stable, who jets are they managing etc.. do some research

If flying corporate is the way you want to go then, i believe its worth the risk.

But my Q is, why would they put up the cost of training for you on this jet, when in the short term there going to get a larger jet.

And also where will you stand after they sell the smaller jet. Another Q i would ask is, with this larger jet there going to get, do they have the same type of jet on the Part91/135 cert ?, if they dont there going to have to do proving runs for the FAA, insurance costs could be high and are they going to be able to insure you with less the 2000hrs and no jet time.

maybe i'm getting ahead of myself but you need to ask questions and get firm answers from your friend.

but 1st get offered get job lol.......

good luck

Take the job

I second all the above. This job is the next logical step in your planned career progression. Your flight time is a non-issue, especially because in 100 hours you will be ready to take the ATP. Moreover, jet time does not grow on trees.

Even if the company went T.U. in six months the turbine time in your logbook will last forever. You've built up freight experience, so you've proven yourself in that sector, and can always go back to it if need be.

Enjoy flying the jet. Best of luck in the new job.
