Big picture looked at. Okay.
Oh and one other thing...I don't fly into MTJ. So, don't try to make this personal by saying "we're very tied of holding and waiting for you". As far as any pilot calling for a clearance a half hour prior to departure from a non-radar uncontrolled field ~ who cares? I call when I'm taxiing out to the runway, but its the release that's important isn't it? Or didn't they teach you that in your big RJ school?
The standard reply from DEN center is "please call us when you're 5 minutes from departure" so the guys that call early are wasting effort.
Unless you have some routing issues there is no need to bother ATC until you're close to being ready.
Glad to hear you're one of the guys who gets it and calls for your clearance and release during taxi. Keeps things running much smoother.
The problem is a lot of pilots don't seem to understand the difference between operations in a non radar non-towered environment and the one in the big city airport they came from. Only one aircraft at a time in or out. During ski season we get a lot of traffic. MTJ is a popular divert for the guys who can't get into the rich folk's airport to the east. So when there's a dozen planes waiting it's beneficial for everyone if people operate in an expeditious manner. I'm not suggesting any compromise of safety. But when there is a 6000 or 7000 foot ceiling there's no reason to use the ILS and waste the extra 10 minutes. If you can't fly to the VOR and bang out a simple PT you shouldn't be flying.
