I'm not there yet nor do I have any expertise in the matter but I don't think anyone without the type rating is even getting an interview, let alone get hired.

I know a lot of people who have interviewed and all had a type rating.

Just passing on info from swa recruiter. You can be offered a job without 737 type, but they are only interviewing 100 % 737 typed pilots. So I asked how do you get offered the job without the interview. She replied " you can't". Just passing the conversation on, and I'm not saying that it hasn't or won't happen, just repeating the conversation.

Blue Skies and happy hunting

I know a gal who was interviewed and hired without the type. Also furloughed ATA folks are getting interviewed (but not too many getting hired, unfortunately) without it. Those are the only exceptions I've heard of. Go to HPA! Get the type!

Get the Type*

*It DOES NOT MATTER where! Also, I have heard of some recently being interviewed without.

regards,

Juan

Crew Pilot Training is also a good place to get your type.
They're in Houston and they use Continental's training facality.
Top notch.:)

My experience with this in 1999 ... SWA used to require the rating just to get an interview but backed off in the late 90's because many qualified pilots were not willing to risk the bucks with no guarantee...there were many more airlines to choose from at the time.

Today...getting an interview without a type rating is difficult at best...IF you happen to get an interview without and pass the interview process you will be given 6 months to get a type rating. In this case, SWA does NOT technically hire you / offer a training class until you get the type rating. SWA guys may have more info or corrections to this. I would guess that someone will know of a rare exception.
