It's going to happen, there is no reason NOT to let SW do this. Protecting UCAL from competition is not a good reason, especially in right leaning Texas......don't they hate government regulation? SW will come out of this smelling like a rose, a true hero for the Texas consumer.

I believe that paying our bills for 40 years and not using any kind of "legal" protection to sneak out of lease and $$$ issues might help us.

Forty whole years, huh? That is a hell of a nice thing to be proud of. Really, good for you.

About how long had most of these legacies been around before the BKs really started to pour in? What would you say? Bout 50ish? Maybe 60 to 70? I don't know. I do NOT wish a BK on you guys. But you sure are calling down the thunder.

From my recollection, the wheels usually come off the bus about 10 years after the pilot arrogance peaks. And all these places were at least one time just as good (or better) an investment.

Wave: In the post above, you completely took me out of context. You need to re-read the exchange I had with Humveedriver. His idea is that SWA (and only SWA, by virtue of size) should be the "counterbalance" to the hub and spoke mega carriers. And if that means SWA needs to be granted something that is contrary to market forces, politics, fairness, agreements, or whatever, SWA should be given whatever they need to be that counterbalance. If you are what you say you are, and you don't think the govt should pick winners and losers, then you need to agree with me-That is screwed up!!

Read it again. The second post from Humveedrivr needs to go between my two posts...

We aren't asking to be given anything except the required customs facilities and agents - at our expense. That's not a gift or a leg up- its a government responsibility. you've painted this as something it's not.

Monopolies are nice for you I guess-

I think you have an overinflated opinion of the power of "pilot arrogance" when it comes to affecting the success of an airline...It is the height of (pilot) arrogance to believe that your opinion (and for that matter any opinion on this forum) is worth more than a fart in the wind...

I think you're correct, but there does seem to be a correlation between hubris and an airline falling from grace. The list is long.

Continental lost it's way 1983. Now they are going to pull down the real united with them.

No it's just like mixing 2 piles of dog turds and expecting unicorns to magically appear. It just won't work. All you will get is a big bag of dog turds. Which sucks because unicorns are awesome.
