Was told at the interview that new hires were going to transition to training primarily in the -700 with differences training for the -300, -500. Does anyone know when that transition is going to occur?

It has happen already

really? i thought chase said it was March for training on the -700 then diffs on the -300/500... my documents for my class starting next week indicate they are starting with the -300/-500 for systems week 1. any more info?

What materials do we get before starting class? Do you have to have a firm date scheduled before they send them out?

yes, when they call you with a class date 3-4 weeks prior they will fedex you forms to fill out as well as a CD-ROM with manuals and a reading list for the first week of class. it isn't a lot by any means and don't worry about it until they call.

Does 700 training still mean round dials on the displays or will it be the normal 737 NG display and then learn the round dial setup while doing differences training?

All of our -700's have the round dial display. You are trained on this set up and you will not see anything at all of the "normal 737 NG" display unless you are riding in the cockpit of another airline.

What? You mean the local all knowing "future SWAPA Pres" and local "check F/O" didn't know everything.

Color me suprised!

Do you miss the NG displays? How 'bout those autothrottles? As for riding in the cockpit of another airline, I hope you'll be able to ride in ours soon, and hopefully I'll be able to ride in yours too. Otherwise I'm going to have a very lousy commute starting February 5.

I'm used to the round stuff now. I miss the A/T's on takeoff. We need to get our unions together and get ourselves in each others cockpits ASAP. I'm going to be commuting DFW-MDW by early spring. Until then we will do our best to get you on LAX-MDW!

Nope.

No auto throttles and no VNAV on anything.

Rumors are that we will get em, now that the -200s are gone.

You miss the auto throttles only on takeoff? Not the other one to six hours for the rest of the flight?

Dude...its...a.....code....share. Not a merger. You won't be sharing cockpits unless you both get CASS.
