I'll give SWA credit for being ready and not having to wait for weights like many of the rest of us. We pushed back in SAT today with the departure runway (3) right behind us (turn 180 degrees and your at the hold short line). As we were completing the push, I saw SWA start pushing about 100 yards away. Naturally, the first thought in my head is making sure they don't beat us out to the runway. Shouldn't have been a problem, but our weights did not come right away. When we got them and did the 180 degree turn, SWA was airborne. If our weights had showed up during the push, we would have been out first. Unfortunately, we and others are stuck with a system that sometimes acts like a pair of handcuffs.
