An industry analyst stated that for every 1% raise in SWA's average fares, it would generate approximately $75million additional dollars in revenue. The fare raises have always come in advance of the dwindling fuel hedges to offset those costs. The most recent hedge as stated only impacts those flights over 750 miles, the smallest percentage of our flyers...it won't be felt by most except those long haul folks. SWA will work around the edges to increase revenue but will refrain from infringing on the shorthaul market that already has impediments to the consumer buying those types of tickets IMHO.
