Anybody know the gouge on SW probation? What is the percentage of initially hired pilots making it past year one and beyond?
Although I currently have a good job I really want to work for Southwest and received the good news from Jennifer today. Any information on the all-important "conditional year one" gratefully accepted.....

720,

Last Octobers' issue of Careers magazine from Air Inc featured an excellant article about SWA. Here's the paragraph
"The washout rate is only about one percent, and Mosseller notes that the pilots who have the toughest time are generally rusty on their instrument skills or have a poor scan, often due to a lack of recency of experience". Dennis Mosseller is the director of training....

Hope this helps..

Very few fail the off probation check. I haven't heard of any in some time (last year or so). The checkride is the same as the one the previous year when you do your initial. They WANT YOU TO PASS NOT FAIL. As long as you're prepared you'll do fine.
