On a lighter note, everyone, here's a little article to illustrate what kind of a company Southwest Airlines is. Like Higher Power, we take work seriously, but we value relationships and give honor where honor is due. And we have a LOT of fun. Every day I still thank the Lord I work here. At my last airline, we'd always say "living the dream" and it was always sarcastic. But here, it means something. Have a great day ya'll.

Systemwide Pajama Party to Honor Retirement of Our Fleet of 737-200's
Posted on Tue, 12/28/04 00:00 To celebrate the illustrious career and bittersweet retirement of the aircraft that made it all possible, the Boeing 737-200, Southwest is throwing a coast-to-coast pajama party on Monday, January 17 to mark the final flight and retirement of N95SW. All Employees across the System (with the exception of our Pilots) are encouraged to wear pajamas to work on that day to commemorate this milestone.

At Headquarters, the official "Rise and Shine" party will be held from 7:30-9 a.m. at DAL Maintenance Hangar C. Breakfast refreshments will be provided, and Peter Greenberg from NBC's "Today Show" will be broadcasting live from the party. Pajamas should be heavy cotton or flannel with the proper attire worn underneath. (This is not a Victoria's Secret fashion show, so leave the satin and lace at home!) Also, please wear attire that will not interfere with the safety of your job and don?t forget proper safety shoes (if required.) As part of the celebration, Southwest will be hosting a number of contests and special offers, including:

Come in for a Landing With N95: If you want to be a part of history, enter a contest to be one of 95 Employees who will be selected in a random drawing to be a passenger as N95SW makes its final landing and taxi at Dallas Love Field (DAL) on January 17. All selected Employees must arrange for their time off from work and pay for any travel expenses. Winners must be at the Maintenance Hangar at 5:30 a.m. sharp! To enter, e-mail your name and Employee Number to [email protected] by January 6. Don't forget to include "-200 Retirement" in the subject line. Winners will be contacted by e-mail by January 10. Seat Raffle: As a final farewell to our -200 aircraft, you will have three opportunities to win a row of three original leather seats from N95 signed by Herb, Colleen, and Gary. Three rows, each with three seats, will be raffled off at the celebration on January 17. Chances are $10 each, or three for $25, with all proceeds going to the Southwest Airlines Employee Catastrophic Assistance Charity (SWAECAC). Winners are responsible for the transport of the seats within 48 hours of winning. Raffle tickets may be purchased by downloading the form from SWALife.com (look in the "Need to Know" window) and sending it to HDQ 1EC no later than January 13. Chances also will be sold at the Big T-shirt at Headquarters during lunch the week of January 10-14, as well as at the event on January 17 from 7:30-8 a.m. Winners will be drawn at the retirement celebration. TJ PJs: To celebrate the coast-to-coast pajama party, the Spirit of Dallas Committee is selling soft cotton pajamas featuring both classic color and Spirit color logos on a gray background for $30. The PJs feature a button-front top and drawstring bottoms in sizes S-XXL, and they will be on sale at the retirement party. You also may purchase yours early by downloading the order form from SWALife (also in the "Need to Know" window) or by picking them up at the Big T-shirt at Headquarters from January 10-14.

The pilots are encouraged to just go naked right?

Wonder how many cycles that plane has on it? :p Look for it at a liquor store near you soon! :D TC

Heck no. I want to see N95SW mounted on a pedestal in front of the G.O.
Last of the breed. (here anyways)

Based upon recent history, I don't think they need encouragement...

Real pilots don't wear pajamas anyway.

If the pilots are encouraged to go naked, wouldn't it be even more fun if the passengers were too? And wouldn't it be faster to get through security?
