I guess after paying for the type, 6 weeks of hotel out of pocket should be nothing.

SWA pays your hotel for the duration of training.

PS- The flights out of PNS are always full with a few jumpseaters. PFN or MOB may be a better bet.

Pay during training is about $2000 each period which comes out to $4000 a month. Congrats on making it into class! It will be worth the wait.
 
is it continuous per diem since DAL won't be anyone's base?
 
No per-diem. DAL is your base during training. Also, I don't know much about your commute, but I used FedEx 3 months commuting to OAK. When you absolutely positively have to be there overnight, go FedEx. First time commuters need to list at least 24hr in advance. This is of course with a passport, and entered into CASS. SWA is pretty fast about getting you into CASS if you enter training with a passport.
