Interesting. With all the corporate belt-tightening of the last few years, I'd just assumed we'd not see another "state" airplane for a long time...if ever. I guess we can now look forward to eventually seeing a Florida, Illinois, and maybe even a Pennsylvania One in the future.

Nice. Take one the gaudiest state flags ever and put it on an airplane. I'm gonna go Comic Book Guy on it : Ugliest. SWA. Aircraft. Ever.

Peace,
DP

I Love it! Does anyone have a real picture not a computer rendering? THe press release says there was a flyby, but no pictures on "airliners.net" yet.

That's awesome! Some useless trivia about it's new paint job.

Maryland's flag bears the arms of the Calvert and Crossland families. Calvert was the family name of the Lords Baltimore who founded Maryland, and their colors of gold and black appear in the first and fourth quarters of the flag. Crossland was the family of the mother of George Calvert, first Lord Baltimore. The red and white Crossland colors, with a cross bottony, appear in the second and third quarters. This flag first was flown October 11, 1880, in Baltimore at a parade marking the 150th anniversary of the founding of Baltimore. It also was flown October 25, 1888, at Gettysburg Battlefield for ceremonies dedicating monuments to Maryland regiments of the Army of the Potomac. Officially, it was adopted as the State flag in 1904 (Chapter 48, Acts of 1904, effective March 9, 1904).

Maryland One, love it! Where do I sign up....oh wait, I already did.

I was sitting number 1 this morning when they made their low pass to rwy 28. It looked very nice as they went by... The Capt had the fore thought to tell the pax to look out their window, everyone got a good look.

The fly-by happened this afternoon at approx 4:30p here in Dallas. I didn't get to see it, but a buddy snapped a cam-phone shot of that thing haulin' tail about 50' off the deck. Looked sweet!

I saw it do the flyby in DAL today. AWESOME!!!! It looked lower than 50' however, more like about 10'

Glad they didn't screw up!

Maybe I can ride in it from BWI to MCO

I always appreciate the ride.

Maybe you could nick name it "the Balmer Bomber", Hun!!!

Wow! I don't know which is uglier, the MD paint job or that "Pat" security guard photo in the U of Phoenix add on the border of the ailiner.net page.

Either way, that is one ugly paint job.

Just mho, no flames please. I luv SWA!
