Congrats to all the upcoming SWA interivewee's. I don't know if this question has been asked before, so here goes. I've heard of Southwest counting turboprop pic time as jet pic time? I know this sounds crazy but I have military turboprop time as well as a lot of 121 turboprop time. I am starting to build jet pic time in the emb but won't have a 1000 hours in it until October or November. Thank you in advance.

PIC turbine is PIC turbine

Atp160,

Southwest's requirement is 1000 PIC turbine (fixed wing multi-engine) NOT PIC Jet. If you have more than 1000 PIC turbine apply now. In the application Southwest will have you break it down to PIC Jet, PIC turboprop. So, SWA is not counting PIC turboprop as PIC Jet. They are just counting it as PIC turbine which is their requirement. I hope this helps...

Most of my time is fixed wing SINGLE-engine turbine. Everyone seems to forget that there are T-34 and T-6 guys that don't have all multi- time.

You are right

thebluto,

You are right. I heard however that single engine time in a Caravan will not make you very competitive. Much different than F-16 time. Sorry for the mistake...

Where do light 121 turboprops put you... (ie 1000 hours PIC flying 1900s for Lakes)

Hopefully SWA

Crizz,

I know a couple of SWA pilots that flew for Great Lakes. Maybe you even flew with them. Look them up...

Well at this point I am simply a 121 hopeful. I am light on time for now, but by the end of the summer will be sending resumes like mad. I am weighing options between going to cush regionals and being there for awhile or sucking it up and flying for lakes for a couple years for the quick upgrade. Right now I am leaning towards the PIC.

My "10 year plan" is to end up in Phoenix, so SWA sounds like a darn good gig. There are so many choices to make, and no crystal ball.

I dont think there is such a thing as a "cush" regional. Turbine PIC is king. Get it as fast as you can.

When I got hired all of my turbine time was in the DO-228 (a 19 seater). One of my classmates only had fix wing turbine time in the T-34. All SWA wants is fix wing turbine time, they really don't care in what.

Thank you all for the quick reply's. I have had my application in since October of 2002 without a type. I went and got the type last year to show how serious I was about getting an interview. Thanks again.:p
