SWA just called to offer me the Jan 10th class. What a nice suprise! Not sure if this class is moved up or a new class, but I think I speak for all who will be in it when I say.....Whooo hooooo!!!

oh yeah ... Juvat, you copy this?Hope to see you soon in Big D!
Copy all! I'm thinking Jan 17 for our group--we'll see.

congrats to everyone, what a christmas present. juvat you were a july 8 interview and your guessing 1/17 at this point right? i really hope what we are seeing is an "added" class instead of just moved up because now as a july 20 interview i have an outside chance of jan and if not i should be in the first class in feb. EXCELLENT. wow dallas is getting closer for everyone...

happy holidays.

Juvat and Skipper,

They called me for a Jan 10 class and we 3 interviewed together July 6. I (regretfully) turned it down to stick with FedEx, so hopefully that'll bump someone more deserving up a class date. Enjoy the cheap drinks!!!

I got the call

I got called yesterday for the Jan 10 class! Skipper, did you get the call too?

Typed: Jul 2002
Paper App: Aug 2002
Online App: Jan 2004
Interviewed: Jul 2004
Call to continue: Sep 2004
Training date: Jan 2005

...it's definitely worth the wait! See you guys in Dallas.

Turbojet,
Got the call also. Great Christmas present.
I was in 23 Jun interviewees.
See ya in the big D!

Feliz Navidad Yall!!

Class Dates

Just saw this tidbit posted on MDW pilot lounge board, 4 classes of 20 in Jan! Not sure if this is old info, but exciting to see. Chief pilot told me that training said they could handle classes every week for first six months. Big hiring numbers coming this year.

Still not sure where the new planes to support the pilots are coming from, but SWA doesn't bring folks on the property to sit and not fly. Have heard all sorts of rumors from U's planes to some United birds. We will see.

Hey, congrats to all of you in the 10 Jan class.....Kim said "if anybody turns me down" for a class date, I may be in, so we shall see (this week I hope!)

Merry Christmas everyone!

First of all, a Lionel Riche picture? Hoya Saxa, you rock the party baby. What ever happened to Lionel? I think we all agree he had so much to say.

More importantly, I got the call from Kim today as well.

Typed: August 2002
Interview: July 6, 2004
Class Date: January 10, 2005

FatesPawn, the first round is on you, the rest are on me. KV doesn't get to buy a thing. Ever.

See you all in Big D.

Hey Hoya Saxa,

I am curious why you said "regretfully" that you decided to stay with FEDEX instead of Southwest? Both are great choices with stability, pay, upgrade, and profitability. I would think this is a hard choice for anybody in that position. I am also curious to know why one over the other? I possibly may find myself (hopefully) deciding between the two sometime next year and would appreciate some imput should this happen.

Anyone else who has made this decision recently I would like your imput. A pilot here at my company in the Southwest pool waiting for a class was told by Kim at Southwest that five people recently decided on FEDEX over Southwest and just like to get some feedback on why?

Great news Skipper! I'm glad you made it in. See you there.

Now I have to get back to my PASS cards...

Many threads have compared the relative merits of FDX and SWA and I gleaned much from those discussions. Bottom line for me was the old "bird in the hand" argument. No one knows with certainty what the future holds, but both companies looked like great prospects and great "fits" for me. I felt privileged to have been offered an opportunity at SWA and truly turned it down with a heavy heart. However, I've been having a blast at FDX (yes, I actually enjoy plumbing at night) and the future looks VERY bright at the moment. So in essence, it was a no-brainer due to the water already under the bridge. Might have been a tougher call had they offered classes at the same time.... Best of luck,

hoya s.

p.s. Lionel Ritchie rocks
