The best advice I can give any of you during the SWA interview is to be honest, don't study the question before you go and most of all be confident about your qualifications when you arrive. You would not be there for an interview if you weren't qualified to be employed.

SWA wants to hear stories with a happy ending. They don't care if you've had a conflict with a fellow employee the just want to know that you kissed a made up and got along happily ever after. If you've really screwed up like a violation or a DUI be upfront and honest about it. I had a friend that got turned down 2 times because of a DUI and I talked to one of the chiefs and he said the applicant should talk about it in the beginning of the interview and sure enough he finally got hired.

Good luck!

I agree a little. I studied all the questions to make sure I had a story that fit into each subject. Not necessarily memorizing answers but keeping stories fresh in my memory. I had about 15 stories in my head that had good endings.

Smile a lot but don't force anything and finish up by stating how much you want the job. I wouldn't ask any questions because it puts the interviewer on the spot. Use that time to get on the soapbox and tell them you want it bad.

Worked for me.

I knew my new avatar was good for something! only took me about 7 yrs to finally get one put up!

Aynone know of the interview plans. I think a couple of guys posted they had been called for May interviews. Anyone else? Rumor has it that the cutoff is around 2000 Turbine PIC is needed to be get the computer to spit out your app.

2000 hours pic!?! Man, I swear I feel like a dog chasing his on tail!!! First it was 1000, when I finally got 1000... they change it to 1600... now that I am closing in on 1600... you say it's 2000!! LOL, dude I will be 60 before I reach SWA mins!

motox, remember this is...

a non-official airline employment web site. 95% is opinion if not more.
Look at swajobs.com for your official information if you meet SWA's minimums then submit an app. if you have them.

Dont want to burst your bubble but most non-military pilots that intervied at SWA that I know have 3000+ pic and some type of training dept background.
Again this isnt a scientific poll and would be considered an opinion.

Doesn't mean giving up!! I didn't have anywhere near that number and I didn't have any friends helping me until I had already interviewed. However, I updated my application every 3 days. I wanted to go their bad and I didn't have any instructor/checkairman backround so I thought maybe my application site "hits" would show some desire. Once I got the interview there was no way they were turning me down ;)

Beats me but I bucked the norm and made it. Don't give up.

Moto, I feel your pain man, ever feel like your running down a hallway and the other end just keeps getting farther away? Though I just heard a rumor it maybe down to 1800. At some point you goota be able to reach the other end.

2800 multiengine PIC turbine and check airman here and no call. Today is also the three year anniversary of my original paper app. I think I'll hang my "Higher Power 737 Type Rated" hat on the wall, get liquored up and throw darts at it.

I still think the cutoff is around 1700 pic plus or minus a little bit. When I interviewed on DEC 9 I had 1750 turbine PIC, 4 year degree, and 5200 total. There were people in my class with mins right around mine.

Keep the faith! I was told to expect a june or july class, but I am going to class on MAY 11th (excuse me while I scream)

The interview was awesome and you will have no problems, just be yourself and have fun.

For those who have had their app in for 3 years with 2500 PIC, Type and Check airman.....don't forget that if you've had your stuff in for 3 years then for at least a year and 2 months of that they didn't call anyone. Keep the faith!!

(I am not a poolie or anything, just keeping a positive attitude and thought I'd share some of it with those who are a little down)
