SWA: How many hired so far?

I hear 750 for the year for WN, How are in line, many so far? The reason I ask is because a fellow F9 FO from my class(about 1 yr ago) is doing his type now, hoping to get in line @ SWA. I think he is craazy, but to each his own (its hard enough getting to Frontier!) primarily because I would guess that the better part of the hiring train has left the station. I.E Time to get typed, apply, get noticed possibly interview and get to class, would put him on the backside of things. Am I not looking at this correctly? Is going to WN from a very Junior F9 FO over achieving? Geez, I think I need another beer......

A buddy of mine said there are at least 350 retirements in the next three years and that the pool has around 150 to 200.

I can confirm 120/year 2005-2009.

130/year 2010 to 2014.

140 in 2015 and it rises steadily to 200+/year for 4 years (2021-2024).

The growth is likely to continue. The fleet of 417 is projected to be 600-700 by 2012. There is more talk about leases to fill the gap until we are ready to purchase 700s to replace in future years. We have done it before and don't hesitate to lease when the economics look right.

I figure 500+ airplanes easy by 2010.

Still feel like you are at the end of the wave??

just wondrin' ; How much for a type @ HPA? Still have some G.I. Bill money......return my empty beer cans.....5 cents per......that 1400 dollars this weekend alone....cancell the NBA Pass....hmmnnn.... as for P.R.I.A. I hope they don't ask Johnny "the shyster" Ornstien about how I get when jerked around.......Oh well F9 isn't all that bad........
