I was wondering if time in a Caravan meets the mins for Southwest PIC turbine requirements? The website does not say anything about multi-engine turbine PIC. If it does meet the requirements would I be competitive going from my current cfi job to the caravan without additional turbine or 121 time? Thanks in advance for the info

No. Look at the folks who you are competing against. Other folks have high, quality, 121 crew ME turbine time (and probably have the CFI, caravan, 135, etc time in addition!). Sorry, don't think you can skip that many rungs in the ladder my friend.

I have not applied to SWA, but have three friends who have interviewed there and two working there as pilots.....my opinion:

It counts TOWARDS turbine TOTAL TIME (obvious, but...) however needs to be added on top of PIC turbine-somethine else. CFI to Caravan to SWA probably ain't gonna happen. Besides, the Caravan is an unpressurized single, operating at 8000-12,000 90% of the time, single pilot.

How are you going to compete with regional crews, corporate crews, or military pilots, especially those with extensive cross country and international experience, etc etc, blah blah blah

again, I am not "in the loop" on the hiring recipe for success, however what I posted is my opinion from watching things from the sidelines.

good luck

Why would a regional discount regional time, my friend?

Of course Caravan time counts. It doesn't say "1300 pic turbine in something bigger than a caravan." 1300 pic turbine. Period.

Fill out the app. Update regularly and good luck. If we wanted 1300 pic in the Whale then that's what the app would say.

Gup

I know a guy that got hired with nothing but 121 sic time and turbine cropduster time. Anything is possible.

We hire F-16 pilots all the time. I'd say a caravan driver has more in common with a SWA operation that the F-teen driver does.

Flame away Kernals!

Don't be so sure.

I know that guy too. I am another spray pilot that wants find a home over there. Got the type about 2 months ago. We'll see. Bottom line is if you have the time, put your stuff in and see what happens. Can't win if you don't play the game.
