Any word when SWA will start hiring again? Anyone called for interviews? What's the latest and greatest?

Did they stop? I know interviews stopped for a while because of the large number in the pool.

from the ATA MEC:

US AIRWAYS GIVES BACK 737s
US Airways will return 11 Boeing 737 aircraft to the company it leases
them from starting in May, the company said on Friday. High fuel costs
and a low-fares environment coupled with over-capacity in the airline
industry has forced US Airways to take this step. The return of
aircraft
will result in the firm cutting 14 flights across its network compared
to February schedules. It will also stop flying to two destinations.

It's not 30, but it's 11, and seems like that might add another 100 guys and gals to the 'Need to Hire' column, doesn't it? Anybody know if SWA is going to get these?

Heard the planes are in need of expensive checks and not in the greatest shape....would cost more money than SWA is willing to pay.

Affirmative Mach, those planes need "D" checks. I think the going rate for a check like that is 5 million bucks, so we don't want em.

Maybe we can find some others?

Adios
