Southwest Air Reaches Contract with Union
Friday June 25, 12:05 pm ET
DALLAS (Reuters) - Southwest Airlines (NYSE:LUV - News) and the union that represent its flight attendants have reached a tentative agreement for a new contract after about some two years of talks, the union said on Friday.
The union was the last major labor group at Southwest without a new contract and the main stumbling block in the talks had been wages. The union said the deal meets its objectives of providing an "equitable compensation package."
On a side note. The lack of the ability to edit now on this forum sucks.
Congrats to mgt and the F/A's. It's about time! Unfortunately, with retro pay due back 2 years, this will cost the company lots of moolah this year. And the pie gets smaller. Time to order the E-series!
Just had to unlock Lowecur from ignore to see what negative comment he had on this positive news.
Of course he has the crystal ball to know what is in the agreement about the retro pay and how much it is going to cost SWA. I can assure you one thing. Herb wouldn't have done anything if it was going to break the bank.
By the way, at this time our stock is up .50 on the news. Wall Street seems to be pleased.
Let's give him a chance, the summer's not over yet. Lowecur said the stock of SWA would be in the single digits by mid-late summer. Closed at 17.00 today so it only has to drop say 40-45% between now and then. I'm not saying it couldn't happen but at this point Lowecur, looks like the odds are stacked against you.
