"Southwest Airlines is extremely pleased that the Executive Board of TWU Local 556, representing our gifted, hardworking, and much admired Flight Attendants, has voted to submit our offer for a Collective Bargaining Agreement for approval by its Membership," stated Chairman Herb Kelleher.

After more than two years of negotiations, Southwest Airlines Flight Attendants have reached a tentative contract agreement with Southwest Airlines.
The tentative agreement meets the union?s key goals of improving Flight Attendant quality of life and providing a fair and equitable compensation package, while at the same time allowing the airline to maintain its competitive low-cost advantage.
"Our goal was to reach an agreement that is good for our Flight Attendants, good for our Company, and good for our Customers," said Thom McDaniel, President of TWU Local 556. "We?re grateful for the hard work and commitment of Herb Kelleher and Colleen Barrett in working toward achieving a contract that recognizes the important role Flight Attendants play in the more than three decades of success at Southwest Airlines."
Transport Workers Union Local 556 is the elected bargaining agent for Southwest Airlines' 7,400 Flight Attendants. Unions represent 85 percent of Southwest Airlines Employees. The tentative agreement will be sent out for a vote of the Flight Attendants. "For many years, Southwest Airlines Flight Attendants have been recognized as the most productive, most helpful, and friendliest in the industry," said McDaniel. "We are proud that our Members will now have a chance to vote on a contract that recognizes their contribution to the success of our Company."
