"jump ship"? Sounds a bit harsh. I think it's just some streamlining under GK. Sounds like they'll still be involved anyway.

Cutting loose the non performers. Letting them go with public dignity intact.
JW-presided over the bloating of middle management
DR-Ran ground ops as we lost baggage handlling and Ontime performance.
BC-Labor negotiator that soured all relationships with union leaders.

harsh? i think 'SWA execs jump SINKING ship' would be harsh. they did jump ship. we'll see how well the ship floats without them. maybe it will plow on as usual. maybe it will take on water. who knows?

no matter how i put it SWA guys would take offense. maybe that's the 'culture change' that is taking place as mentioned in the article.

If SWA is a "sinking ship" I guess we can find UAL, DAL, NWA, etc next to the Titanic today.

I will second that...

It's more like they walked the plank.

Dude!

Love the avatar! I too have spent thousands on TR-3/4/6's and Jags. (The MGA that exploded on me doesn't count...it was my brother's)

I love tempermental, over-heating, electrical nightmares.

Ok...back to the thread:

What he said!

Dead Wood gone....

Kelly has been a non-stop crusade to retire the dead-wood....early retirements are going happen and are not a surprise...more to come

Maybe so. Maybe we're getting lean and mean. No more Mr. Nice Guy. From now on it's get out of the way or prepare to be steamrolled. :uzi:

Gup
p.s. for you sensitive types - that was a joke.

Yeah, get out of the way. Kelly is just cleaning house.

One of the top guys who "jumped ship" actually retired. Since he's 53 and probably made out well with SWA stock that's pretty believable. Another top guy left to pursue missionary work with the option to work as a consultant. Usually the term jump ship implies going to work for the competition not retiring or doing church work.

You've Got To Consider The Source On This

The Ft. Worth Star-Telegram...champion of the Wright Amendment. Remember, AA puts a LOT of money into Ft. Worth (both at DFW and Alliance).

None of this is new news to any of us at SWA. This "house cleaning" has been going on quietly over the last year. But our wonderful media will spin it any way they want. As someone else mentioned, I would say to consider the source.

Isn't this every members dream on this board getting to see uppermanagement laid off. It seems like it is.

Clean House

I was at recurrent last week and Kelly spoke to us. He naturally didn't use the term cleaning house.....but he did say that we have significantly dropped the number of employees per aircraft........I want to say we have about 10 people per aircraft less than a year or so ago).....increased productivity! I have heard others in the company say that there have been a number of personnel offered " a retirement party"!

West side on the East Side?

This is the West side of the DFW metroplex reporting on the East side. I wouldn't take to much stock in the FW Star reporting on SWA or the Dallas Morning News reporting on AA. I used to live in Dallas and the rivalry between DAL>FTW, AAL>SWA, Wright vs. Non-Wright is like a college football game every day. Somebody always has something to say about the other team. I just can't wait until they are in the same conference, or aka the No Wright Amendment days. Then the words will really start to fly.

I don't blame the execs for leaving. If I'd worked as hard as them for as long as them I'd be in the picture to the left of this text forgetting about ASM's, RPM's, UIM's, PRM's, M&M's, and all that other junk.
