Anyone know how some of the recent domicile awards have gone for new-hires in ground school? Also, what is the general outline of the training schedule for the first month or two? (I.E.: indoc, systems, sim, etc.......)

Thanks,

In the July bid 7 of 48 new hires went to BWI, the rest went to OAK. PHX and MDW have been available within a month or two. You can plan on waiting a bit longer for the other domiciles, particularly DAL.

I'll let someone who's been through ground school since the new procedures came out take ground school schedule question.

Just got done flying with an F/O who has been at SWA over a year. He can't hold DAL or HOU, and in July will be on the bottom in PHX.

Not necessarily true Bake, I am just junior to you (April 02) and have been camped out within 10-30 from the bottom in PHX for over a year now. Those just junior to me (May 2002 hires) were stuck in OAk for quite some time. I can't do Dallas at all and HOU and MCO would be very close. In the end it depends how much hiring happens after you and where the growth is - so your results may vary (read your prospectus). Things are moving along right now so hopefully no one will stagnate for a while, but if you have to sit reserve in a crahpad in OAK for a year, then it is still worth it.

Ivuair and 737tanker, I stand corrected after doing the research. At HOU there is at least one pilot there that started in May of last year, DAL isn't happening anytime soon, and PHX is looks to be getting more and more senior. For those of you just hired on or curious about domiciles, move to BWI.

How quickly can you get to Midway?

I was in the 15 Mar 04 class. In May, I selected and was awarded MDW as my IOE base (first choice) and to fly the remainder of my partial IOE month in MDW (also first choice.) For June, the first time seniority came into play, I was sent sent to OAK (not my first choice.) The good news was the first month is an assigned hard line (no reserve.) In July, I will be in MDW (again, first choice.) However, that will be a reserve line. We'll see how long that lasts. My class was the senior of two classes in the June bid. About 15 of 24 of us skipped OAK altogether and did the first month in BWI. The second class in our cycle (2 weeks junior to us) saw all 24 go to OAK the first full month after IOE. I have a couple of classmates in PHX starting in July, FYI.

After the first month and a half on the line I can say it really is a great, friendly place. I look forward to seeing many more Flightinfo junkies here soon!

Hey guys,

I started 21Apr03 and did reserve in PHX since Aug. 03. Just got a reserve line in HOU this month. Approx. 7 class under me to get me to HOU. DAL might happen by the end of the year.

Hope this Helps.

swa domiciles

Can someone list all the domciles SWA currently has? How long would it be to hold MCO?

BWI is not difficult at all. I believe guys are now getting it after one month in OAK. This is all about timing. My group from 05-05-03 spent 9 months in OAK then I spent 2 in BWI before getting MDW. This was because of an 8 month period of no classes. Things appear to be rocking now though. I'm gonna guess the junior base will be BWI in a few months. The Domiciles are DAL, HOU, PHX, OAK, MDW, BWI, MCO. No PHL.
