Question for those in the know regarding SWA HR/DB folks contacting references and LOR authors....

50% of my references and LOR authors may be moving, stationed overseas and/or playing in the sandbox. How can SWA contact these folks? Does email suffice? Do they call internationally? Do they have access to a DSN line? Or do I need to be finding other, more accessible references?

SWA PD normally calls your references. I have never heard of email or mail contacts. To the best of your ability I would give them good numbers for the folks who wrote you letters and were your supervisors. I would then offer a list of additional references who you know can be contacted ie. stateside. Just keep the People Dept. updated with what you can.

Hope this helps

Lindsey Lang stated at a recent HPA class that SWA has numerous ways to contact references deployed overseas, including in Iraq via email, international calls etc.
