swa classes in March?

Thoughts
SWA hasn't committed formally to Mar classes as of this time. There has been talk there would be 2 classes per month for the first 4 months to handle all of the initial new hiring needed for the year. However as you know the 2nd Jan class got cancelled but there are 2 classes for Feb on the books but not "official right now". I would speculate the company will wait to see how 4Q'02 goes, bookings for 1 & 2Q'03 are going & pilot utilization rates are going for the first couple of months before committing to anything in March yet. Lots of fallout from others shrinkage at this time could change things dramatically.
Remember, we have moved up delivery of aircrafts for '02 & '03 & Boeing would love nothing better than to some more if SWA asks.

You seem to have very reliable info for the most part. Are you getting a warm fuzzy about the two classes in February? According to LL, I should be headed for the third class. Just looking for a little Holiday Cheer.
Here's to Boeing having to repaint a few airplanes early next year.....

Would'nt it be GREAT if the rumor for 180-200 new hires is real AND all of the hiring takes place 1Q!?!?!?
Until then... I suppose the best we can do is be happy to be so wet.... after all, it looks as if the future will be strong @ SWA.... this has been a HUGE excercise in patience...... the wading continues for now....... as we all wait for that phone to ring!!!!

My warm fuzzy is solely based upon what I've heard from the PD. I've been on vacation for awhile so haven't spoken to anyone at work but I would expect by Feb the need will exist for some folks. Simply with more aircraft coming in 1Q'03 the need will be there but I certainly can't say definitively there will be 2 classes. Obviously with the change from 2 classes to 1 class in Jan I would speculate the chances are better than average the need will still be there. Let's hope that turns out to be prophetic & not speculative. There will be very little discussion or decision making for the next few weeks with the holidays so I'd recommend to all, spend time with the family, do the things that bring you joy & be thankful for whatever you may have, even if it isn't much because there is always someone worse off than you. Hope to see you as soon as possible in DAL. Merry Christmas & God Bless.

Thanks for your time and for the encouraging words. Your analysis of potential Q1 numbers makes sense. I hope for a happy and prosperous 2003 for Southwest and all its People, including as many of the Poolies as is possible to bring aboard. Have a great holiday and I hope to see you soon in Dallas.

Thanks on the Avatar comments.... and,
NO! - there will be no more logo items.... I currently have dozens of Priority envelops, postage, spreadsheets.... etc., laying ALL over the office floor... "hey dog! GET OFF Slug's XXL shirt, it only LOOKS like your bed, I know it's BIG enough!!"
My wife is very happy that she gets to stuff all the envelopes on Monday when the shipment arrives - perfect planning on my part, a 3 day trip, then off to see the family on Wed. for the holidays. She has reminded me, once again, that I "owe" her..... trust me - the debt is piling up on this payback like you don't EVEN know!!!!
She IS looking forward to doing a Turkey_Aid with all of you in DAL!!!!
TTFN - Have fun and enjoy the Holidays, next year this time, who knows, you will probably be flying a 737 in Dec!?!?!?
