Well, my buddy who didn't get refs called didnt get hired. I guess consensus seems to be right so far. Bummer! Great dude, too. Best of luck, guys. If at first you don't succeed, try again.

Does anyone know of any corporate guys that got the call? I know there is probably a little preference to the 121/Mil world with SWA and was wondering if this round of hiring proved me wrong. Thanks!

I have been corporate for 7 years (but was 121 prior to that). I interviewed in April.

SWA does have a preference to the military, but not as bad as FedEx or Delta. My buddy interviewed at SWA a couple years ago, there were 6 military, and 6 non military interviewees. All non-military had infinitely more time and experience, but when the calls went out, all 6 military got hired and not one of the non-military were hired. Once you get military guys on the interview board, it becomes a boys club where they won't hire anyone else.

Not true. Personally know 7 guys who are great sticks and really good dudes who got the letter instead of the call. Once you get the interview its your job to lose whether you are civilian or military.

Hopefully it's changed. Word is a lot of interviewees complained that SWA wasted their time and money, so maybe SWA is trying to make it a more level playing field now.
