I noticed today that a lot of the SWA planes coming into San Diego now have winglets. Anyone know what percentage of the fleet have been converted, or now have the winglets?

Gary Kelly mentioned on Thursday that we have about 50 of our -700's with winglets now, and all of the -700's will have them by March 05. The -200's will all be gone by January 05, and the 300/500's won't get the winglets.

Rumor Mill says that fuel savings on a300 with winglets is even better than on the 700 (this actaully makes sense - I'll spare you the aero geek stuff though) and they are "looking into it".

Saw one a few days ago for the first time in ABQ. Can't wait for a chance to fly one.

Until then I guess I will keep waiting for the call from the PD.

CAL is going to start getting winglets on the new 800's coming this summer. Rumor also has it all of our NG's may be converted.
