Just got the call, I am officially in the April 9th class! It will be 24 poolies.

Congrats you are going to have a blast...unfortunatley I think they moved to a new hotel in Dallas, no longer the holiday inn. I hope someone throws you a new hire party. I would like to think the oldtimers in the class before you will, but since they are coming back, I have a feeling they may strapped for $$. See you on the line. your beer is on me.

The tradition is free beer, but having said that I enjoyed many free meals as well. I just wish upgrade was insight so I could repay all the benefits I enjoyed while on probation.

Was told when I was there a few weeks ago that the Renassaince is the primary hotel, it's nicer BUT sucks because you can't afford to eat there for the term of training if you are a new hire. It's like a four star restaurant (at least 4 star type prices and even with our 50% discount, it adds up quick)

The bar has a cheaper menu. The "T-Bone" steak restaurant is great and at least 40% off. In addition, there is a Market Center that has a gunshow every weekend. The Renassaince is a bit closer to to places that you might need a cab to get home from.
Another hotel of ours is the Sharaton which is across the highway from the Renassiance. Good, cheap food and beverages.

I have a buddy in class right now and its true...kinda
There is a party but it is now an informal get together. Too many people getting rowdy at all the other parties. HOWEVER after the party the current class should take you down to the bar and still by the beer.

You guys will find out real quick that this place is 35 years of tradition unhampered by progress. I really doubt the new hire parties will ever totally go away. But as soon as we get EFB's and Glass 300's with autothrottles, all bets are off.
