SWA has a great relationship with most major and regional carriers for jumpseat privileges. The SWA capts I've flown with have tried to always treat their jumpseaters with respect & help whenever possible. Most companies have a "commuter policy" that covers pilots commuting on their own airline to get to work which allows for pilots to not be charged for a late/no-show in situations where cancellations occur with their own on-line flights.

Basically these guidelines will be followed:
„h Pilots will not be paid for the trips missed.
„h Deadheads to get the Pilot back on the trip will not be paid.
„h The Pilot will not be charged with a No-Show.
This experiment will be based totally on mutual trust and the success or failure of the experiment will be up to the individuals involved. This Program is effective from March 25, 2003 through June 30, 2003.

Thanks in advance to those capts who help get our folks to work & who have in the past. I'm not a commuter now but have been & will be in the future and realize why this test is so important. We hope to be able to return the favor to those pilots out there who need to get to work also! Cheers,

We are pleased to announce an experimental program Flight Operations and SWAPA have mutually agreed to. Because many carriers have significantly reduced their flight schedules, our off-line commuters are finding that getting to work on time can at times prove to be challenging. In an attempt to assist them, we have mutually agreed to a temporary policy not unlike the current on-line commuter policy we currently have in place.
