Just completed the online app. I had an application in as of February 2002. I received my letter a few weeks ago.

My question is: Did I miss where they ask on the online app if you already have an app on file? Did I miss it, will SWA cross reference this info, or do we not get some sort of bonus for being in the system so long?

Also do we get some sort of e-mail confirmation?

Thanks for any insight.

I didn't get any email confirmations either. There was not a place to cross reference to our paper apps. So I would think that we are out of luck if we are hoping for that to count. I don't think the PD folks are going to have time to try to X-reference paper apps to thousands of online apps to try to figure out if this John Smith with a type rating is that John Smith with a paper app. I think it was a little bit of wishful thinking on our parts, who knows, the best thing that can happen is that I am wrong.

Email Confirmation

I think te email confirmation only comes when you use the manage account information, not application info.

We may have had apps in there in the past, but they are probably thinking, "Yeah, but what have ya done fer me lately?" At least it will count now since you have to update every 6 months. Does anyone know if they will offer interviews to everyone that applies (like they used to do)? <Joke>

Good luck to all!

Question on the app

There is a question that reads "Have you ever received a letter from the FAA regarding your certificate or any other action". Would a failed instrument checkride oral fall into this. When I was 20 yrs old, BEFORE my Embry-Riddle days and BEFORE going military, I failed the oral on an instrument checkride for some wx questions. Just can't remember if I got a "letter from the FAA". Any thoughts?

Did you get the letter

I received a letter that stated that my original app date was XXX and that I was typed. That's it. They know when you applied. Didn't you guys get the letter?. I think you should have...

Swerpipe, I agree they know when we applied, but I don't expect them to match up all the applications with each other, there is just no way to do that that I can imagine.

If they do a draw of 500 applications off the database, how are they going to see who in that stack has already applied? I guess they could match up SS numbers but I don't know that they have the numbers in a format to search.
